Bladesmith: Dan Thompson

I have always liked working with my hands.

I spent a lot of time working with wood. Making cabinets and finishing carpentry were some of my favorite occupations.

I ran down more than a few proverbial rabbit holes when introduced to knife making.

Everything involved was fascinating to me. Everything, from blacksmithing to metallurgy and the types of steel. How the different “recipes” of steel could affect the knife blade’s outcome was also interesting.

I had always been frustrated with buying knives for many different needs. Whether for food preparation, hunting, fishing, or use in my many professional areas as a construction contractor. It seemed like a really good cutting tool was not available at any of the stores where I shopped.

I decided to make the best unique knives, one at a time.

I soon found that most people I was making knives for were not interested in how or why it is made, just that they would perform the job they wanted.

I humbly bring this website to you to show my services, ideas, and knowledge to go as deep as you wish into knife making.
